Sustainability Helps Grow the Garden

San Luis Obispo, CA (Vocus) April 25, 2009

At the intersection of cutting edge technology, responsible use of nature’s elements and money-saving design you find a Sustainable Landscape Garden. The San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden has invited noted landscapers to exhibit the ease of incorporating sustainable elements into any landscape. The Botanical Garden, slated to be a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to the ecosystems of the five Mediterranean climate regions, has dedicated over 3,000 square feet of space to this sustainability demonstration. Each 400 square foot display will feature California native plants as well as xeriscape designs.

May 3 kicks off a two-week celebration of bringing the community back to the Garden. At Home in the Garden, May 3-16, will feature seminars, docent-led garden tours, guest lecturers, renowned author discussions, book signings and more. Sustainability is at the heart of the festivities, from the straw-bale construction of the Oak Glen Pavilion where many of the activities will take place, to the topics of discussion, including the Morro Bay Estuary Program, Sustainable Landscaping, Wildlife in the Garden, and the displays of eight Sustainable Landscaping demonstration gardens. All events are $ 10 to attend for the general public and $ 8 for members. For a complete listing of all activities, visit http://www.slobg.org.

The San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden is located on 150 acres in El Chorro Regional Park off Highway One between Morro Bay and San Luis Obispo. When the master plan is complete, the Garden will be the only garden of its kind in the United States exclusively devoted to the ecosystems and plants of the five Mediterranean climate regions of the world. Through its programs and facilities, the Garden fosters an appreciation and understanding of the relationship between people and nature and encourages a sense of stewardship toward the natural environment.

Celebrate National Garden Month at GardenBetter.com

Bradenton, FL (PRWEB) April 3, 2006

GardenBetter.com presents in-depth articles on gardening to help gardeners of all ages and abilities get the most out of National Garden Month. Newly added feature stories will enhance Americans’ love of nurturing their own special piece of land. Whether a tiny plot or a massive backyard, gardens can provide endless opportunities to enjoy connecting with nature.

GardenBetter.com has set an important goal for National Garden Month – to encourage gardeners to share their love of gardening with their families, friends and neighbors and spread the gardening spirit. This offers a double benefit: Not only will people reconnect with the inherent beauty of their land, they will also reconnect and enhance their relationships with others.

The website offers a helpful mix of topics covering flowers, vegetables, houseplants, winter gardening and projects for children. Gardening novices who need detailed help will discover many important tips. For example, every state in the US, as well as territories like Puerto Rico and Guam, has specialists known as Agricultural Extension Agents. These experts offer an absolutely terrific consulting service and, unfortunately, most people either don?t know about it or don?t take advantage of it. Extension Agents, often working out of state universities or agricultural colleges, know all about local gardening conditions and can answer virtually any garden-related question.

Stewart Silinsky, nicknamed the “Gardener of the Stars” because of his celebrity clients, is the resident expert at GardenBetter.com. With years of gardening experience in various climates, he has the unique ability to help gardeners around the world. Although Stewart enjoys gardening all year long he knows for many this isn’t the case; therefore he suggests that “National Garden Month, celebrated in April, is the perfect excuse to try out a new gardening project and experience the joyful rhythm of nature.”

Garden Harvest Supply Adds Live Garden Plants to Online Selection

Berne, IN (PRWEB) February 7, 2006

Garden Harvest Supply (http://www.GardenHarvestSupply.com), a Web site offering high quality home and garden products at affordable prices, is pleased to announce the addition of live garden plants to its list of fine garden products.

While most gardeners have to buy the seed and start their own plants, Garden Harvest Supply’s new line of plants will help decrease this process. “With the planting of live garden plants, their time will be drastically reduced, giving them more time to ‘be in the garden,’” says Joe Stutzman, founder of Garden Harvest Supply.

The company’s shipping procedures ensure the plant’s quality and durability so that the plant arrives in excellent condition. “Our garden plants are shipped with the growing medium still attached,” Stutzman says. “We do not ship root stock as so many companies do. This helps the shipped plant to avoid getting plant shock, which in turn grows a healthier plant.”

The wide selection of garden plants includes asparagus, broccoli, cucumber, eggplant, onion, pepper, tomato, watermelon and more. Each garden plant is available in different types and prices. The plant selections include photos and detailed descriptions on the ordering page.
